"I've worked with several very experienced Pilates teachers over the years and Carl is as knowledgeable as any of them. His enthusiasm, attention to anatomical detail, knowledge of equipment and general energy make him a pleasure to workout with and learn from. My body is becoming leaner and stronger and I'm finding core strength I didn't know I had. I can't recommend Carl highly enough."

"I have a very hectic schedule and sometimes it’s very hard for me to find time to exercise. When I do, I get bored easily if the workout isn’t also mentally stimulating. I’ve tried Pilates in the past but wasn’t amazed quite honestly. Finding Carl was a game changer. His energetic and informal style made me comfortable immediately. He didn’t talk to me in that airy drawl that can tranquilize you. He taught me the true benefit of the mind-body connection to exercise. I felt different immediately. My body transformed beyond my expectations so I did a Maxim Magazine photo shoot without hesitation in early 2010. I’ve learned to keep my shoulders down and stomach tight. Make no mistake, he made me work for it. I didn’t think Pilates could be this tough. I've tried every style of exercise with LA's top instructors. Without question, I only trust Pilates with Carl to get the best results."

"Working as a model requires me to remain very long and lean. I began my pilates  training with Carl 6 months ago and have seen very impressive and far greater results than any other workout or diet I have tried. I'm booking jobs internationally now, thank you Carl!"

"Carl is truly a miracle worker.   As someone who suffers from chronic back pain due to disc disease and rheumatoid arthritis, I never pictured myself working out regularly.  And forget about slimming down and building lean muscle!  I was a victim of countless doctors telling me I shouldn’t work out and simply bending over the wrong way could ruin my back and land me on bed rest.  Basically,  I was 34 going on 104.  Until I discovered pilates I thought I was doomed to a life of scrunched over agony and chronic pain.  But I’ve learned I’m not destined to lie in bed watching marathons of The Real Housewives of New Jersey while loopy on pain pills.  I can work out.  I can even enjoy and look forward to it!

Carl is a big believer in the mind body connection and not in that creepy, California new-agey kind of way where he’ll rub crystals on your back and tell you to breathe through your arm.  His teaching methods make sense.  His exercises work.  Carl tailors your workout to your specific needs without coddling you like some fragile wounded bird.  He challenges you and helps you build lean muscle, lose weight and increase flexibility.  This is something that my physical therapy, epidurals, back braces and pain pills couldn’t accomplish.  Without Carl I’m quite sure I would be a lazy, broken, obese woman eating Funyons in bed while complaining about bad genetics.  Instead I’m shedding pounds, gaining strength, decreasing my pain and changing my life.  And I owe it all to the Carl, the “Ass Master.”  If you doubt that last claim, be sure to ask him for the “booty series.”  Trust me, your jeans will fit like never before and lots of hot single men will want to make your acquaintance."

"I’m 45 years old and had never gotten excited about working out until I met Carl.  I have a short attention span and get easily bored with any kind of indoor exercise.  Carl has kept my interest and actually managed to make a workout fun.  I look forward to working out with him.  We laugh a lot, but he pushes me, keeps the workout interesting, and the hour flies by!  I always walk out with a smile on my face. The added bonus is that my strength has increased dramatically, my lower back pain has disappeared, and I have much more spring in my step on the tennis court."

"Pilates with Carl is the only form of exercise I actually look forward to and enjoy. He is extremely encouraging and patient, yet he pushes you to levels that are necessary for results, and I'm always confident he is in complete control.  He pays attention to every detail, including slight changes in body position, which maximizes what you get out of the session.   At my first workout I was able to see how knowledgeable he is about the biomechanics of the human body and many of the musculoskeletal disorders that affect normal functioning.  He has worked with myriad back and joint disorders, including degenerative disc disease, severe scoliosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and post-surgical patients.  Having a weak lower back myself, he immediately knew how to adapt the exercises to isolate the target muscles, protect my problem areas, and strengthen my core, all the while teaching me more about my own body and body dynamics than I have learned thus far in my academic training; no other personal trainer I have worked with has a fraction of his knowledge and expertise.  He knows so many different exercises that I find myself wanting to try them all, and I definitely want to keep working out well past the hour.  I only recommend doing Pilates with Carl of my friends, family, and patients."

"I've never liked exercise. I've always had to force my way through it, and even then my commitment was sporadic.  Then I found Pilates with Carl!  The changes in my body, not to mention my confidence and energy, have motivated me to get my tush out of bed a little earlier so i can take care of myself.  Also, my near constant neck and shoulder pain have practically vanished!"

I started doing Pilates with Carl right after I had upper body surgery, and I attribute a lot of my fast recovery to his remarkable teaching. He knew just what to do and how to modify the program for every stage of healing. Plus he is always supportive and never judgmental, very knowledgeable and sensitive – a great combination!  He makes hard work fun, and is very encouraging and focused…an hour flies by too fast with him! I can’t say enough on his behalf, he is a Pilates star!

My Pilates sessions with Carl have brought me new confidence, strength and flexibility that I never expected. Furthermore I never thought working out could be so much fun! Carl is patient and encouraging. He focuses on my needs as a performing musician and pushes just enough to get results while keeping the exercises varied and providing a solid theoretical insight. The time just flies by and I'm always sorry when the session comes to an end. Having struggled with an auto-immune disease (Crohn's) for many years I never expected to feel this good and I owe that to Carl and his Pilates training. I would highly recommend private sessions. Progress has been fast and the experience has inspired me to look at fitness and health in a new light, knowing that I can reach new goals. Thanks Carl!

"I’ve never been a huge fan of working out, but now I’m absolutely addicted to Pilates and am stronger and more flexible than I have been in years, and I have Carl to thank for that. I’ve worked out with other people in the past and usually found myself watching the clock, waiting for the time to end. With Carl, I really look forward to my workouts and the time flies by. A definite first for me.

I started training with Carl as a relative Pilates newbie. Though I’d had two group reformer classes, Carl was my first private Pilates instructor, and what a difference! Getting the most out of Pilates is not so much about what you do, but how you do it. Instead of just taking me through the motions, Carl really educated me so that I really understood why I was doing what I was doing. Sure, other instructors tell you that it is important to breathe, but Carl really explains why the breath is so important, and how the breath affects your body and your workout.

Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, Carl really tailors each session to me and to what I want to work on, while keeping in mind my longer-term goals. My schedule is really hectic, and he is always wonderful about fitting me in. His enthusiasm for Pilates is infectious.

I’m so glad I found Carl. Seeing my body change for the better is a wonderful thing, but actually enjoying the process is more than I ever expected"

"I'd always thought of myself as being fairly fit, considering years of jogging, playing tennis, riding a bike and hiking. That is, until I met Carl. After only two months of being trained by Carl my body has taken on a more toned appearance. My clothes fit looser and my posture is vastly improved. I eagerly await each training session because it doesn't feel like a chore. I leave the sessions feeling calm and in tune with my body. As a sixty-plus-year-old woman with a much younger looking figure. I highly recommend training sessions with Carl. Thanks, Carl."

"I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in December 2005. My Pilates sessions with Carl have been a life-saver! Since I’ve been taking reformer classes I find my relapses are now few and far between. No doubt the stretching and strengthening of muscles is one reason for my relief.  Carl has been instructing my Pilates sessions for 3 months, and I definitely feel better, with increased stamina, and more mobility and strength in my body. Carl is exceptional in his knowledge of how the body works and the Pilates method. He has a gently encouraging attitude and has truly given me better health and hope for the future."

Carl has been my Pilates instructor for over a year now and we usually meet for two sessions each week.  In all that time, and in all those workouts, I've never been bored -- he finds a way to keep it fresh and interesting, as well as challenging and effective.  Carl's knowledge of anatomy and muscle function is amazing; he truly understands how the body works and how to work the body for the best results.  He's remarkably adaptable and finds a way to customize the exercises to avoid stressing a sore muscle or weak joint while still building strength and flexibility.  When we finish the workout, I leave feeling both relaxed and exhilarated.  We laugh a lot, too.
